History of Table of Faiths

Since 1989, we have had the opportunity to grow and create educational programming to celebrate religious and cultural diversity in the Kansas City area. In these ever-changing times, understanding people of different faith traditions and other backgrounds is necessary to create and maintain harmony in our community. The Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council is committed to building the most welcoming community for all people.

The Table of Faiths event is our is our main fundraiser as well as an invitation to look within our own faith beliefs and spiritual practices. When we do this we can see how emerging wisdom gives rise to our individual and collective commitments to the future we are creating together for all life. It is only through your generous donations and participation in events that we are able to increase appreciation for cultural and religious diversity in the Greater Kansas City area.

In a society, often intolerant of cultural and religious diversity, we are committed to modeling spiritual and religious values, especially mutual respect and cooperation.

In the end, interfaith cooperation is a way of moving America closer to its ideals, but it is also an act of citizenship. When you work to bring people into relationships, even when forging that link is difficult, you actively strengthen the bonds that hold our society together. In divided times, that citizenship is more important than ever.
